The result was the Scotty Mac Band which quickly turned into a band with regional success and opening slots for national touring acts like Brett Young, Tyler Farr, Phil Vassar, Lee Brice and Chase Rice. Placement at festivals around the country including Night in the Country, Country fan Fest, Oregon Jamboree, Country Thunder, Coastal Country Jam among others followed. In 2016 McLaughlin released his first EP Messin’ Around which was followed in 2018 with a sophomore album starts With A Girl, both recorded in Nashville. The band won California Country Association’s Entertainer of the Year in 2017

Scott McLaughlin grew up in a small Southern California town surrounded by dairy farms, ranches and horse shows. His musical journey started after receiving his first guitar as a gift from his father at age 13. Heavily influenced by Garth Brooks and Fleetwood Mac, he began writing and perform his own music in high school. After graduating, he moved south from Hemet, California to attend California State University Long Beach as a business major. While he worked on his degree, Scott continued to hone his music and vocal talent which lead to the decision to dedicated his life’s work to his music career. Fans can expect to hear music rooted in old school country mixed with today’s contemporary sound. Scott’s honest, simple approach to life easily translates into music audiences can relate to. He stylistically blends the contemporary sounds of modern country with the traditional instrumentation and story-telling lyrics of the genre’s roots. Scott strives to provide an authentic country sound for today’s country listeners by staying true to his old school favorites and background.
